I made the decision this week to move my blog for Dyl over here. I was having trouble finding the time (haha) to remember to blog seeing as it was 2 separate accounts. Plus I really wanted to have a blog called I love Dyl Pickles. All of my kids have cute nicknames we call them, Dylan started out as Pooka (think cute puppy dog in the movie Anastasia) but in the last few years we have transitioned to Dyl pickles. I personally love a good dill pickle (homemade preferred) and have all my life even as a kid I would eat them by the jar full. They are crunchy, tangy juicy and just a tad bit sour. Kind of like my Dylan.
I am hoping that having moved this over here, i'll be more inclined to post. I always have lots to say and share about our journey with him, and more and more i find myself wanting to tell others...not only for my own personal therapy, but also to help others who are in the same type of situation. I will delve into this more later.

One out of every 110 children today will be born with autism. Our personal journey began just over 11 years ago when we started to notice things weren't quite right with our 1 yr old son Dylan. This blog is dedicated to him and all of the children out there who have or will soon be dx'ed on the AS. It is my hope that those who do not understand autism, or are looking for possible answers to their own situations will learn from what is written here.
How much I love Dyl pickles...
This blog is for my son Dylan (Dyl) who was Dx was Asperger's (PDD-NOS) at age 8 (2006) after nearly 5 years of seeking a Dx. I am a busy mom of 8 kids, but while my time is limited, I never stop trying to learn more and help and encourage others along the way who are also on this journey called Autism. Asperger's is a high functioning form of autism which while good in many ways versus other forms of autism, at times can hinder my son's progress and help because to the untrained eye he seems like a normal kid with some major behavioral issues. From the time he was a little over a year he has been a huge challenge in the behavior department. Unfortunately it wasn't until later in his life I was able to see that he was not the *typical boy* the world renowed pediatrician at Indianapolis's childrens hospital has told me he was who simply had a mommy who needed a time out. Since the Dx I have given as much of my time as I could to trying to help him, and it is my hope that through this others can understand and maybe even be helped themselves if they are traveling the same road.
